Description
Professional fiber artist Karen Linduska invites you to discover new ways to use the stitches on your sewing machine while making her Fun and Funky Tree pattern.
Creating this art piece, you’ll discover features on your sewing machine that may be new to you as you make the background, tree trunk, flowers, ferns, and petals.
Learn techniques for surface design and finish the piece by framing it, making it a pillow, or putting it on a tote or jacket. And, you don’t have to have a sewing machine full of decorative stitches to do this class because Karen also shows how to do the same techniques using simple utility stitches found on most basic machines.
Gather your beautiful threads and yarns and have fun making your own fun and funky tree!
For your convenience, this class can be purchased for online viewing or purchased on DVD.

At seven, Karens Linduska’s great-grandmother taught her to knit. At ten, Karen was introduced to her first sewing machine and she says she has been sitting at one ever since! It was while pursuing a degree in fiber art that she discovered using a sewing machine to create surface design. This experience became the foundation of her work today and Karen continues to strive for creativity rather than perfection. She begins by asking “What if?” when it comes to new and different techniques. She is currently a full-time fiber artist, author, and teacher. Two of her publications, Your Machine’s Decorative Stitches and Creative Uses for Decorative Stitches are available through AQS. Karen continues to discover new approaches as she works and learns in her studio every day.

A great teacher!Explains every thing vert well. A beginner could understand.Fun fun project. At first I thought who would want to make a tree. Then I thought it would be nice to learn how to use all these fancy stitches on my machine. She shows many new techniques for decorative stitches, that can be used in many different ways. Very informative on all aspects of sewing, from your machine set up to how to finish a wall hanging. I loved this course.

Excellent class. I never thought I would be anxious to try decorative stitches. I can see the possibilities of adding them to free motion quilting that I love so much. Karen explains the technique very well and demonstrates what she explains. I am inspired!

I have both of Karen’s books and love them. Watching her teaching her technique online adds a whole new dimension to the lessons in the books. Using the fancy stitches on your machine to create textiles fascinates me. Thankyou Karen for sharing your research and technique with us. I love this course and will go back to the lessons time after time. Fabulous course.

I love this class; it has been so much fun!!! Karen is so creative and generous with sharing her ideas and helpful in answering questions! I have recently purchased a new Bernina sewing machine and Karen’s class helped me discover many of the exciting features of my machine. It was much more fun learning techniques and stitches by a visual methods rather than reading the manual. Now that I’ve learned how to use my machine with decorative stitches, I plan to make more designs of my own!
Thank you for offering this class! I’ve told others about this fun way to design and recommended the class.
