Elsie M. Campbell grew up with quilts on every bed. Her mother, grandmothers, and aunts all made quilts. Elsie just thought everyone knew how to quilt. Best of all, these quilts were made to be used. Elise says they were simply “loved to death.” Elsie’s primary career was that of teaching, first in home economics and then in special education. It was during her time as a special education teacher that she rekindled her love of quilting. Now, she lives her passion. This award-winning quilter has returned to teaching, traveling nationwide and sharing her knowledge of hand quilting, precision piecing, hand and machine appliqué and quilt design. She continues to produce award-winning pieces but has not given up her practice of creating quilts as gifts for family and friends so more quilts can be simply loved to death.
