Becky, always energetic and eager to increase her skills, advanced from sewing clothes to sewing household items and then moved on to needlework. When she took a quilting class in the early ´90s, she fell in love. Once she felt proficient in traditional methods of quilting, she began to make art quilts. Eventually, Becky developed her own approach to appliqué, a technique she calls Innovative Appliqué. Innovative Appliqué increases accuracy and productivity and eliminates time-consuming tasks typically associated with most appliqué methods. In order to demonstrate her new technique, Becky needed original designs. This need caused Becky to begin to create the wonderful, artistic designs that she has become known for. She is the author of Plant Your Own Garden, published by AQS.

WOW!! Great class, I love all the great tips and techniques. I can’t wait to make this pattern and start enjoying hand applique. I usually applique by machine.
    Becky is a great teacher.

I enjoyed the class and picked up some lovely tips; however I am not fond of using the glue baste. I found it to dry quite hard which made it difficult to hand sew the pieces in place. The sharp points on the petals and leaves get very difficult to handle due to the buildup of both fabric and glue.
The class felt more like an over view or a mini-class rather than a fully instructional course. I do wish I could see the comments and questions from others watching the course. This is a downside of IQuilt – not the course or instructor.

I thoroughly enjoyed this class. I had learned a technique similar to Becky’s but it didn’t have the trapunto aspect and I really, really liked her finishing ideas.
I can see me using these finishing techniques on lots of other projects-even hotpads! Slhe is a great teacher and explains things clearly. I especially liked her showing the machine applique aspects as I have both rheumatoid and osteoarthritis in my hands and can no longer do hand applique for more than a few stitches.
I would definitely consider another class with her.
