Michele Scott began quilting as a hobby to pass the time. It quickly became her passion and she was especially intrigued with free-motion quilting, creating designs that need no marking. Embellishing quilts with a variety of threads was fascinating to her and she determined to incorporate as many of them into her quilts as she could! Working with varieties of threads and embellishments can prove very frustrating, so Michele spent many hours developing strategies to work with them more effectively. Michele has created numerous fabric lines and has her own lines of machine quilting threads. Her quilt designs can be found in major quilting publications. She is the author of Bobbin Quiltin’ & Fusin’ Fun, a publication of the American Quilter’s Society. Close to Home, a block-of-the-month project, is also available through AQS. Known for her outgoing personality and quick wit, Michele is an expert at using specialty threads and trimmings successfully on quilts, adding that special touch of added dimension and elegance.

Love, love, love the tomato idea and expect to have one delivered today. I popped this class into my library because I noticed from the trailer that it was on a domestic machine. Viewed it today, and truly, what a hidden gem for me to find. I am “one of those” who NEVER touch the tension on my machine…well, now I am ordering a second bobbin case for my brand new Bernina! Who would have thought my thinking could change that much in two hours? Well, Michele, obviously; and she will change your thinking, too! Even if you don’t intend to add this type of embellishment on your quilts, there’s still so much great information that works across the board on any project – you don’t want to miss this class. It’s fun, easy to understand, and literally, sparkles! Michele, what am I to do with all my white/beige thread? I need to make room for something glittery….LOL! Can’t wait to get some new beautiful threads to try.

Absolutely loved this course! I can’t wait to go out and get a bunch of decorative thread and topstitch needles. Why?—because I have the confidence now to do so and play around with it and just have fun! Michele is really down to earth and infectiously fun!

Michele gives you the confidence to be a machine quilter step by step. She explains everything you need to know to be successful. She explains thread, tension, needles and design and gives many tips for even a novice to get started. The most important message she gives is to start small and you will be a successful machine quilter! Great course, Michele!

Love the pen and ink notes on samples…so handy to have! BTW I still tack kids’ quilts and charity quilts rather than tie off. This is VERY comprehensive. Michele is a TEACHER with a capital “T”! What you do adds magic to quilts and fun to quilters. And yes, I said “OOOOOOO and AAAAAAH”, though I have been using these methods for awhile. It’s fun and informative to watch you work and make corrections as things don’t work out perfectly the first time. (I hate those over-edited videos that have everything coming up roses, when you know it doesn’t always happen that way. Can be discouraging.) Cheerleading is a good thing. New quilters are often so self-critical. I like the fact that you show the design in more than one size, something one might not consider. LOVED the course.

Now, if only there were course covering the many stabilizers and fusibles that are in production. You know…with the pros and cons of various kinds for various applications.
