Description
It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3! Lisa H. Calle has developed a method to divide large spaces on a quilt top into smaller sections and add beautiful quilting motifs and fills.
Looking at open spaces on a quilt top can be overwhelming, but in this class, you’ll learn a step-by-step process that produces one-of-a-kind masterpieces. Lisa shows how to turn large spaces into smaller, more manageable sections by adding a series of dividing lines.
Place lovely feathers, ferns, and leaves within the lines. Then, put the finishing touches on your quilts with fills that make your quilting motifs pop! Lisa even shows what to do to make that quilting mistake look like it was part of the quilting plan.
No matter your preferred quilting method—hand, domestic machine, or longarm—this class will leave you looking forward to creating your own quilting designs. And best of all, the entire method requires hardly any marking or measuring!
This class is available for online viewing only. No DVD available.

Lisa Calle has long been interested in the fabric industry. She holds an undergraduate degree in Textile Management and Marketing and fell in love with quilting in 1997. Lisa discovered longarm quilting in 2004, and under the business name Stone House Quilting, established herself as a professional longarm quilter. Lisa has an extensive portfolio of blocks, borders, fills, and sets of designs that she sells to businesses and online. Lisa also has designed her own line of quilting rulers. Her award-winning original designs have opened the door to teaching opportunities so that others can learn from her art and design skills. Her love for quilting is surpassed only by love of family—and maybe—golf.

I thoroughly enjoyed this class and learned so much from it. Lisa Calle is a good instructor and kept things interesting and moving at a good pace. I did, however, wish that she had shown her quilting design process on more than one quilt, but I easily found many quilts she had done by going to Pinterest and searching for Lisa Calle. I learned a great deal from looking at other examples especially now that I understand how she came up with those designs. If you have admired the quilting of quilters like Lisa Calle and wished that you knew how they came up with their ideas and you are ready to add to your quilting skills, then this class is for you.

I’m really glad I took Lisa’s class. Her work is just gorgeous and I was excited for the opportunity to learn more about how she gets from blank slate to incredibly beautiful finished product. I had read a couple articles about her Divide and Design method but still learned quite a bit more from the class. It was a good length to keep my attention and she is very easy going about the whole thing, which builds your confidence that you can do this. I’m looking forward to getting out my pencil and design toys and trying this out!

Loved the class. When Lisa talked about how initially she was intimidated by figuring out how to quilt a project, I could relate. The step-by-step instructions along with tips on how to break everything down into smaller steps is really helpful. I learned so much! Thanks, Lisa!

Enjoyed your class. As I like to trapunto I was not sure if I would like the class. Good news. I learned a whole lot of new things I can incorporate in my work as well as a new concept of not marking the fabric. Overall I really am glad I took her class. She is also a very good teacher. She explains everything we needed to know and she used a dark pen so the students can see what she was doing.
I like the micro-stippling but have not used it in a while and got carried away and a few feathers became bushes. I now understand why the squares needed to be quilted. If not quilted they really stand out and project looks unbalanced or to large for the project.

Excellent class. Lisa does a great job at breaking down her design process and talking about the choices she makes and why she makes them when creating a quilting design. The design process is applicable to many different situations and the quilting techniques she demonstrates are applicable to domestic machines as well as long arms.

This is truly one of those “teach a gal to fish” type of classes. Lisa walks through her process step by step to show the viewer how to design for any quilt, not just her example. She is easy to understand and makes all of the steps crystal clear.
This course is worth every penny. I believe I will be using Lisa’s design process for nearly all of my custom quilting work.

Thank you so much for this wonderful class. I watched it a couple of times and enjoyed every moment of it. I now know how to turn these white open spaces into something beautiful! Still need a lot of practice, but love every minute of it…

I really enjoyed learning Lisa’s thought process in quilting design and the progression from paper to machine. She presents a fun jumping off place for those of us that are easily overwhelmed with trying to mentally design the whole quilt while looking at it on the frame. I’m sure my seam ripper will enjoy a rest from trial and error designs done directly on the quilt!
Lisa’s tips on thread weight, batting choices and scale were also most helpful.
Thanks to Lisa for your class and response to my questions & to all involved for presenting a quality class. I will look through my orphan blocks and start playing!

I absolutely loved this class! I highly recommend this to all of you! I have taken live classes with Lisa as well as this class on-line. I have to tell you that although its always fun to be face to face and in the same room this online class was like a one on one or a private lesson – I had Lisa all to myself! Lisa is an inspiration and her quilting style is one that I aspire to. I would give it 10 stars but they only let me give it up to 5 stars! Excellent class and again I highly recommend this one, you will not be disappointed.

Wow!!! What a lightbulb moment this was for me!!! Lisa was definitely speaking my language–no measure–no marking and yet totally spectacular results!! She really challenged me to “think outside the block” when looking at how to quilt a quilt!!! I had so much fun with the class that I have already quilted up a little one for me–check out the gallery!! Thanks so much for sharing your techniques with us Lisa–would have given you a 6 stars–but that wasn’t an option!!!

What a GREAT class Lisa! WOW! I’m blown away ! I just finished and my mind is racing with ideas and excitement, I can hardly wait to get started designing my own quilt designs and quilting them using Lisa’s process. Lisa is a brilliant instructor and presented everything in a very easy to understand way.
I loved how she broke everything down and gave simple tricks and tips to add to my tool belt.
One of my favorite tips is when doing the floating straight line you fill the end with really small stipling to cover the ends.
Lisa has given me the confidence to quilt on my domestic sewing machine using her techniques and has also inspired me to purchase a long arm one day.

Lisa demonstrated design variations on the demo quilt and others she has done.
I can hardly wait to start designing my own quilt tops. Only this time I have a proven process, instead of the “stand and stare method”!
Thank you Lisa, you are an incredible teacher! I am so glad to finally be able to take one of your quilting classes. I live in Canada, and find it very expensive to travel to take classes. I am thrilled to feel like I have you right here with me in my studio, every step of the way!

Lisa covered various simple design motifs and explained when to use them. She also made it clear that there is no wrong design element, it is really just personal design style. I can hardly wait to try these to embellish my quilts!
