1 Back to School…
Send those little loved ones back to school with a little reminder of home. Cover composition books or folders with fun novelty prints or their favorite super heroes.
2 Home Dec Project…
Bookshelves getting bland? Spice things up with coordinated books. Pick one fabric or a collection to cover re-purposed books or your favorites. Start stacking and make things beautiful.
3 Leftover Journals…
Do you have left overs from a quilt project? Those blocks that didn’t quite work? Put them to good use. Chop them up and cover a book with them. Do this through out the year and have lots of great gifts or hot items for the craft bazaar.
4 Family Scrapbooks…
Coordinate the family tree. Cover basic photo albums with a fabric representative of that side of the family. Do a different fabric for each branch. Makes an easy visual reference on the shelf.
5 Memory Books…
Don’t forget those special moments. Cover a journal with fabric from a favorite suit or jacket, t-shirt from concert or even those curtains that hung at beloved Aunt Jenny’s house. Then fill the book with special memories about that person or events.
6 Seasonal Planners…
Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall. Cover your planners with fabric you’ve created a landscape on with scraps and thread depicting a season. Make one for each season and plan your year in style.
7 Computer Time…
Set Little One in front of the computer, open a paint program, and let them create a work of art. Print it out on fabric and use it to cover a book. Let them help through the whole process. They will love seeing their art come to life.
8 Companion Journal…
When making a group project like a wedding quilt or guild president quilt that takes collaboration, use some extra fabric from the project and cover a journal. Send the journal around to visit with everyone working on the project so they can write words of love and appreciation, wisdom, or even recipes. Give it with the quilt as something extra special.
9 Ugly Books…
Because Glow In the Dark Orange may be eye catching for your latest read doesn’t mean it will work out on your living room bookshelf. Solution – cover it up! Take an ugly (but loved) book and dress it up with a nice new cover.
10 Diversion Safe…
Keep thieves from the fabric scissors by hiding them away. Hollow out a re-purposed book, cover it with your favorite fabric, and set it somewhere special. Who looks for fabric scissors on the bookshelf?
