Cutting Instructions

From the dark purple, cut:
(4) 1 ½” x 1 ½” squares

From the purple fabric, cut:
(1) 3 ½” x 3 ½” square

From the light purple fabric, cut:
(4) 2” x 2” squares

From the dark yellow fabric, cut:
(1) 2 ½” x 2 ½” square

From the yellow fabric, cut:
(4) 2” x 2” squares

From the light yellow fabric, cut:
(4) 2” x 2” squares

From the background fabric, cut:
(4) 1 ½” x 1 ½” squares
(4) 1 ½” x 2 ½” rectangles

Assembly

Half Square Triangles

Mark the wrong side of the yellow 2” squares in half diagonally once. Lay a marked yellow square over a light purple 2” square, right sides together. Sew a quarter inch from each side of the marked line. Cut apart on the marked line.

Trim unit to 1 1/2” square. Make 8.

Flying Geese

Mark four light yellow 2″ squares in half diagonally once. Lay two light yellow marked squares over a purple 3 1/2″ square in diagonally opposite corners. Sew a quarter inch from the marked line on both sides. Cut apart and press.

Lay a light yellow square over the corner of the purple triangle. Sew a quarter inch from the marked line on both sides. Cut apart and press. Repeat with the other purple triangle.

Trim unit to measure 1 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle. Make 4.

Sew a background 1 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle to the top of the Flying Geese unit using the diagram below as a guide for orientation.

Unit measures 2 1/2″ square. Make 4.

Block Assembly

Use the block diagram above to layout the block into three rows. Sew the units into rows.
Sew the rows together to complete the block.

Block measures 6 ½” x 6 ½” unfinished.
