Cutting Instructions
From the dark purple, cut:
(4) 1 ½” x 1 ½” squares
(4) 1” x 1” squares
From the light purple fabric, cut:
(1) 3 ½” x 3 ½” square
From the dark yellow fabric, cut:
(8) 1 ½” x 1 ½” squares
From the yellow fabric, cut:
(4) 1 ½” x 1 ½” squares
From the light yellow fabric, cut:
(4) 2” x 2” squares
From the background fabric, cut:
(4) 1 ½” x 1 ½” squares
(4) 1 ½” x 2 ½” rectangles
Assembly
Flying Geese
Mark four light yellow 2″ squares in half diagonally once. Lay two light yellow marked squares over a light purple 3 1/2″ square in diagonally opposite corners. Sew a quarter inch from the marked line on both sides. Cut apart and press.
Lay a light yellow square over the corner of the light purple triangle. Sew a quarter inch from the marked line on both sides. Cut apart and press. Repeat with the other light purple triangle.
Trim Flying Geese to 2 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ rectangle. Make 4.
Flip Units
Mark the wrong side of the dark purple 1” squares diagonally once. Lay a marked square on the corner of a yellow 1 1/2” square and sew on the marked line. Trim a quarter inch from the marked line and press.
Unit measures 1 1/2″ square. Make 4.
Sew the four units together as shown below to make up the block center.
Block Assembly
Use the block diagram above to layout the block into three rows. Sew the units into rows.
Sew the rows together to complete the block.
Block measures 6 ½” x 6 ½” unfinished.
