Cutting Instructions
From the purple fabric, cut:
(2) 2” x 2” squares
(4) 2 1/8” x 2 1/8” squares
(4) 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ squares
From the light purple fabric, cut:
(2) 2” x 2” squares
(1) 3 ½” x 3 ½” square
(4) 2 1/8” x 2 1/8” squares
(4) 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ squares
From the dark yellow fabric, cut:
(4) 2 ½” x 2 ½” squares
From the yellow fabric, cut:
(1) 3 ½” x 3 ½” square
From the light yellow fabric, cut:
(4) 1 ½” x 2 ½” rectangles
From the background fabric, cut:
(4) 1 ½” x 1 ½” squares
(4) 2 ½” x 2 ½” squares
Assembly
Half Square Triangle
Mark the wrong side of the light purple 2” squares in half diagonally once. Lay a marked light purple square over a purple 2” square, right sides together. Sew a quarter inch from each side of the marked line. Cut apart on the marked line.
Trim unit to 1 1/2” square. Make 4.

Quarter Square Triangle
Mark the back of a yellow 3 1/2″ squares in half diagonally once. Layer with a light purple 3 1/2″ square, right sides together. Sew a 1/4″ on both sides of the marked line. Cut apart on the marked line to make two Half Square Triangles.
Mark the back of one of the Half Square Triangles from corner to corner crossing the seam. Layer the marked Half Square Triangle with the other Half Square Triangle right sides together with light purple triangles opposite each other. Sew a 1/4″ on both sides of the marked line. Cut apart on the marked line.
Trim to 2 1/2″ square.
Flying Geese
Mark the wrong side of a purple 1 1/2” squares diagonally once. Lay a marked square on the corner of a light yellow 1 1/2″ x 2 1/2” square and sew on the marked line. Trim a quarter inch from the marked line and press. Repeat with a light purple 1 1/2″ square in the other corner as shown below.
Trim Flying Geese to 2 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ rectangle. Make 4.

Split Quarter Square Triangles
Mark the backs of the background 2 1/2″ squares in half diagonally once. Layer with a dark yellow 2 1/2″ square, right sides together. Sew a 1/4″ on both sides of the marked line. Cut apart on the marked line to make two Half Square Triangles.
Mark the backs of the purple 2 ⅛” squares from corner to corner. Layer a marked square with a background/dark yellow Half Square Triangle. Sew a 1/4″ on both sides of the marked line. Cut apart on the marked line. Repeat with the remaining Half Square Triangles.
Trim to 1 1/2″ square. Make 8 Split Quarter Square Triangles and sew into sets so the dark yellow triangles meet.
Repeat with the light purple 2 1/8″ squares to make 8 more Split Quarter Square Triangles as shown below.
Block Assembly
Use the block diagram above to layout the block into three rows. Sew the units into rows.
Sew the rows together to complete the block.
Block measures 6 ½” x 6 ½” unfinished.
