Serrated Scissor Charm Tutorial

Looking for a quick little gift all your quilting friends will love? Make scissor charms for everyone! Not only is it a great way to identify your scissors at a group sewing session, but Becky Goldsmith offers a great tip to use a scissor charm to help with your serrated scissors.

Gather the following supplies:

Monofilament Illusion Cord .012″ or .30 mm

Beads

Charms

needle
Cut a piece of monofilament about 2″ long and fold in half. This will serve as your needle to thread beads onto your scissor charm.

 

first-knot
With the desired length of monofilament, tie the charm suspended in a loop.

Place the needle on the scissor charm string. Position the knot to the side.

 

second-knot
Using the needle, put the first bead on the scissor charm. Position the knot in the first bead with the tails pointing away from the charm.

 

hide-the-knot
Slide on a second bead. Be sure to push the tails from the knot through the bead.

Push the beads together hiding the knot completely. Continue adding beads.

 

top-knot
Add a knot at the top leaving a long enough tail to loop the entire charm through while around one of the scissor’s handles.
