Description

Introduce yourself to liberated quiltmaking with Gwen Marston and transform your quiltmaking abilities.

Beginning with the Basket block, Gwen shows how to make these much-adored little baskets brim with color and design. Learn how to make and attach bias handles and expand your skills by making variations of the classic basket. Then, apply the same liberated method to the Log Cabin block while using up fabrics in your stash that you’ve loved but weren’t sure when and where to use them.

Make blocks out of strips and also dig a little deeper into the stash for some useful scraps. Make wedges and slivers to add delightful interest and find out how to vary the red center for additional depth. With liberated quiltmaking, you are in charge of the design and the end result is playful and original work inspired by you.

For your convenience, this class can be purchased for online viewing or purchased on DVD.

Love, love your liberated quilting! Have really enjoyed this course. It felt so good not to be stressing out when quilting when it “should be” relaxing and enjoyable. Thanks so much for giving me permission to be liberated. Gwen, you are such fun to be quilting with. I would love to be quilting next to you as a friend might be! Again, thanks for helping me to become “liberated”.

There’s nothing better than having Gwen right in your sewing room with you! Excellent class that would be perfect for liberated beginners. Gwen’s humor and personality shine right through as she guides you through all the techniques. I would also recommend this class for someone who might be familiar with some of the techniques, but has never taken a class with Gwen. I know I will come back to this any time I need a Gwenny fix!

I cannot say enough good things about this class. I have been a fan of Gwen’s work and techniques for many years but have never been able to overcome the logistics of meeting her in person or taking one (or more) of her classes. This course has allowed me to literally watch her as she works / plays. It has also allowed me to listen to Gwen again and again as she shares her processes. And what a treat to hear Gwen explain the stories of her quilts and how/why they came to be. I am so glad that I will be able to invite Gwen and her wisdom into my studio again and again!

I highly enjoyed and recommend Gwen Marston’s Liberated Quiltmaking course. It was such a treat to have Gwen in my sewing room with me dispensing her charming and refreshing advice about color and design. I love how she encourages you to do your original work and to have the confidence to try something new and fun! These courses are for everyone from new quilters to seasoned quilt veterans. Warning: you may never throw away a fabric scrap again!

“Nice thing about not following a pattern is you can do the smart and practical things.” – Gwen Marston
Yes, indeed! I love this course!
LIBERATED QUILTMAKING course is filled with pure fun, tricks and simplified techniques. Gwen Marston encourages to take the plunge and just make the quilt. Watching her work intuitively and making color and design decisions is a special treat. Her no stress “design as you go method” is contagious and allows independent creativity. I could not resist starting a quilt as I watched the lesson. Having unlimited access to this course is a gift because now I get to quilt with Gwen all the time, right here at my kitchen table!

I feel like I have had a private lesson, rather, a play date with Gwen Marston. I’m not new to Gwen’s Liberated methods, but this is the first time I have been able to look over her shoulder and watch as she gets started and makes choices right at the needle. While Gwen sews she covers the basics, suggests the possibilities, and offers a generous look at her quilts and quilt making adventure. I really enjoyed our time together using this format.
