Description

If you are a beginning quilter, or a quilter who wants to learn precision piecing, Leila Gardunia’s class is a winner when it comes to covering the basics.

Learn to cut, sew, and press so your quilt pieces come together perfectly. Sew together half-square triangles, quarter-square triangles, and flying geese with ease. Put together basic quilting blocks that turn out flat and straight when proper techniques are used. Then, put all your new skills together and turn the quilt top into a fantastic canvas-backed wallhanging.

Along the way, you’ll learn about fabrics, color choices, and so much more. Leila’s pace is geared for the beginner or confident beginner, so take the class yourself and hone your piecing technique, or buy it for a friend and give the gift of quilting!

For your convenience, this class can be purchased for online viewing or purchased on DVD.

In 2001, Leila Gardunia reluctantly agreed to participate in a local quilt shop’s block-of-the-month program with her friends and loved it! She has made quilts regularly since then, but her quilting obsession started when she discovered the amazing online quilting community. She jumped into that community feet first and started her own blog in 2010. She is coauthor of You Can Quilt! Building Skills for Beginners (AQS, 2015) and believes that anyone can learn to make beautiful quilts! Feel free to drop in and visit her on her website: leilagardunia.com.

I found this course taught by Leila to be very helpful! I am a returning quilter after a 20 year lapse and was delighted to have Leila
demonstrate short cuts to favorite patterns, like flying geese and half-square triangles! She has a nice calm demeanor and carefully explains how-to and why steps are taken in piecing. She answered my question quickly and in a helpful way. I’m so glad I took her class!

Another novice quilter here. Leila Gardunia is an excellent teacher. She has made a real difference in my piecing skills. Maybe she could offer a tutorial on how to make that matching pillow?;-)

As a novice quilter this was a great place to start. The details helped me make sharper corners and much cleaner looking quilt. So far i have made a few quilts. And they have been fine if you are okay with something that looks homemade. This tutorial help me take it to the next level and turn a homemade quilt into an heirloom quality piece of art. The quilts that I feel like I will be able to make in the future will be something that could be that could be kept for generations.

I love quilts, especially homemade quilts with love and character. I don’t actually have one because no one i know can quilt! I’ve decided I’d like to try to make one but didn’t know where to learn. The quilt I want is made from 1/2 square triangles which this piecing class teaches along with other blocks.
The pace of the class was perfect, especially for someone new to quilting. The steps for each block were explained in detail. I love that as I work on my blocks, I can watch the class on my tablet and have a visual. The downloadable materials are great as well.
I would recommend this class for anyone who wants to begin piecing for a quilt.
