Fabric Requirements:
Blue – 1 5/8 yards
White – 1 5/8 yards
Binding – 5/8 yards
Backing – 4 1/2 yards
Cutting Instructions:
From the blue fabric, cut:
(30) 24 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles
(6) 22 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles
(9) 20 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles
(6) 18 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles
(3) 16 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles
(3) 12 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles
(12) 4 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles
(9) 6 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles
(9) 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ squares
From the white fabric, cut:
(30) 24 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles
(6) 22 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles
(9) 20 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles
(6) 18 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles
(3) 16 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles
(3) 12 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles
(12) 4 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles
(9) 6 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles
(9) 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ squares
Instructions:
Block A:
Sew a blue 2 1/2″ square to the left side of a blue 18 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle, press. Next, sew a blue 20 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle to the top of the block, press. Then sew a white 4 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle to the left side of the block, press. Sew a white 22 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle to the top of the block, press. Next, sew a blue 6 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle to the left side of the block, press. Sew a blue 24 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle, a white 24 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle, and another blue 24 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle to the top of the block and press.
Block B:
Assemble according to diagram above.
Block E:
Assemble according to diagram above.
Block F:
Assemble according to diagram above.
Block C:
Sew a white 2 1/2″ square to the left and the right side of a blue 12 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle, press. Next, sew a white 16 1/2” x 2 1/2″ rectangle to the top of the block, press. Then sew a blue 4 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle to the left and right side of the block, press. Next, sew a blue 20 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle to the top, press. Sew a white 6 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle to the left and right side of the block, press. Then sew a white 24 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle, a blue 24 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle, and another white 24 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle to the top of the block and press.
Block D:
Assemble according to diagram above.
Quilt Assembly:
Use diagram to arrange blocks. Sew in rows. Sew a blue, white, and another blue 24 1/2” x 2 1/2″ rectangle for the top border. Then sew a white, blue, and another white 24 1/2” x 2 1/2″ rectangle for the bottom border. Add borders.
Quilt as desired, and bind using your preferred method. Enjoy your Tidal strip quilt at the beach, or dreaming of sandy shores!
